How to migrate from Intercom to CRM Solid

Intercom-to-CRM-Solid migrations are usually the smoothest we see. The data model is similar (contacts, conversations, tags, custom attributes), and Intercom's data export tool is well-built. Most teams are live in CRM Solid within one working day, with historical conversations trickling in overnight.

Step 1: Export your data from Intercom

In Intercom, open Settings > Data > Export Data. Request the following exports:

  • Conversations: date range, include all custom attributes.
  • People (Contacts): include tags, lifecycle stage, and custom attributes.
  • Companies: domain, plan, lifecycle.
  • Tags: Intercom exports this as JSON, we map to our tag system.
  • Help Center articles (optional): used to ground our AI agent if you want to keep article-driven replies.

Intercom emails a signed download link when each export is ready. For very large workspaces (1M+ conversations) Intercom delivers a multi-file ZIP. Our wizard handles the multi-file case automatically.

Step 2: Map fields to CRM Solid

The CRM Solid data model maps to Intercom's like this:

  • Intercom People → CRM Solid Contacts
  • Intercom Companies → CRM Solid Companies (or a custom field)
  • Intercom Tags → CRM Solid Tags (one-to-one)
  • Intercom Custom Attributes → CRM Solid Custom Fields
  • Intercom Conversations → CRM Solid Conversation timeline

Anything the import wizard does not auto-map gets promoted to a custom field with its Intercom name. Re-name later from Contacts > Field schema.

Step 3: Import via UI or API

For under 100k contacts use the in-app Import Wizard. Above that volume, use our public REST API: POST batches of 5,000 contacts to /v1/contacts/bulk and conversation history to /v1/conversations/historical. We provide a Node.js script in the docs that handles batching, rate limits, and resume-from-failure.

Tag every imported contact with source:intercom. If anything goes wrong, you can roll back the import with a single filter delete, no nuking your whole workspace.

Step 4: Reconnect your channels
